Floor fans can be categorized based on several dimensions, including control method, motor technology, functional characteristics, and blade design.

Based on control method, they can be divided into mechanical, remote control, and touch control types. Modern smart floor fans support control via mobile app or voice commands.

Based on motor technology, they are mainly divided into AC motors and DC brushless motors (DC inverters). DC brushless motors are more energy-efficient and quieter than traditional AC motors.

Based on functions and additional features, floor fans are evolving from simple air-dissipating tools to multi-functional composite products.

Some products feature intelligent control, air purification, and humidification functions. Some models have built-in batteries for portable use.

Based on blade design, the number of blades, such as three, five, or seven, affects the gentleness of the airflow and the quietness of the operation. Blade materials, such as PP, are relatively softer, lighter, and safer.

Other common classification dimensions include oscillation method (left-right or up-down-left-right oscillation); and power supply type, including AC mains power supply and models that support USB Type-C or power bank power supply.
